If You Don't Preplan, Your Family Will End Up Spending More

Lack of Preplanning Leads to Higher Spending

Lack of Preplanning Leads to Higher Spending Due to Emotional Choices, Higher Costs, and Limited Price Comparison Opportunities During a Time of Grief

When faced with the loss of a loved one, families in stressful situations often make emotional, impulsive decisions and select more expensive options than they would if they had more time to plan and examine them thoughtfully. For example, while in a heightened state of grief, we may think mom or dad needs the most elegant or expensive casket when, in reality, they would have chosen a more plain or affordable one.

Some families find themselves unable to afford every option they want when making arrangements within a short timeframe (this is called at-need planning.) By preplanning and pre-funding, your loved ones won’t find themselves faced with those difficult situations.

Grief doesn’t always lend itself to clear, measured thinking, and it can be difficult to focus on cost-saving measures. Preplanning gives you more time to compare options, prices, and plans, so you can make the best choices for yourself and your family.
