William J. Horsch

William J. Horsch, age 79, of Hastings, died Friday, April 2, 2010 at Regina Assisted Living.William was born October 18, 1930 in Hastings to George and Mathilda (Holzemer) Horsch. He was united in marriage to Alberta (Weber) on May 16, 1953 in Miesville. William was a 1948 graduate of Hastings High School. Heworked at theKoch Refinery until his retirementin 1995. William also served as past commander for the American Legion post #47. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Keith. William is survived by his wife Alberta;children Jeff (Karen) Horsch of Hastings, Bruce Horsch of Houghton, MI, Mitch (Peggy) Horsch of Hastingsand Chris (Mel) Werner of Vermillion; grandchildren Catherine (Brent) Burns, Andrew Werner, Jordy Horsch, Greg Werner, Ted Horsch, Nick Horsch, Jake Werner, Dan Horsch, Rebeka Horsch, Meredith Horsch, Ben Horschand Joey Werner; great-grandchildren Brad and Lexi Burns; sister-in-law Kathy Horsch.The Funeral Mass, officiated byFr. James Perklwill be held 11AM Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 WestFifteenth Street, Hastings. The visitation will be from 4-8PM Monday, April 5, 2010 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 EastSeventh Street, Hastings, and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment willfollow in the parish cemetery with full military honors provided by the Hastings V.F.W. Lyle Russell Post #1210 Honorguard. Pallbearersare William's grandchildren. Honorary pallbearersare Wayne Rother, Roger Rother, Maureen Fasbender, David Fasbender, John Hankes and Jan Niederkorn.Memorials are preferred to Alzheimer's Research or Fairview Hospice.
