William B. Squire

William B. Squire, age 88 of Hastings died unexpectedly on June 29, 2013 at his residence. William was born August 9, 1924 in Jamestown, ND to Frank and Anna (Gordon) Squire. He served in the Army during WWII and was a member of both the VFW and American Legion. William married Lillian C. Murschel on November 5, 1954. He had worked for 37 years as a welder with Chicago Bridge and Iron prior to his retirement. His hobbies included sharing time with his �coffee and fishing buddies� and spending time in his rose garden. Bill had recently sold his home with plans to move to northern California to live with Beth and Duncan. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lillian on June 3, 2011; son William; and sister Florence Rygg. Bill is survived by his daughter Elizabeth (Duncan Herring) Squire of Fiddletown, CA; niece Joy Kahl of Fargo, ND, nephew Doug Rygg of Seattle, WA; sister-in-law Virginia Ell of Bismarck, ND; brothers-in-law Ivan (Helen) Murschel of Denver, CO, Edmer (Angie) Murschel, George (Mary Ann) Murschel and Lester Murschel, all of Bismarck, ND; also special friends Dennis and Mary Paula Deane of Hastings. The Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Lloyd Menke will be held 11 AM Wednesday, July 3, at Our Saviour�s Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 West Ninth St., Hastings. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh St., Hastings, and one hour prior to service at the church. The pallbearers are Mel Hage, Joseph McGrath, Dennis Deane and Brian Nelson. Interment will be held on Friday, July 5 at Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings with military honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210.
