Wilfred Peter Tri

Wilfred P. Tri passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Augustana Nursing Home in Hastings. Wilfred was born in Mazeppa to Alexander and Dorothy (Poncelot) Tri on January 6, 1922. He served in the Marine Corp. during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He landed on Iwo Jima during the second day of the invasion. He participated in the occupation of China after the war. After returning home, he married Lorraine Kruger on June 10, 1947 inMazeppa, MN. Wilfred had workedat 3M in the production area prior to his retirement. He was a life member of the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210.Wilfred is survived by his wife Lorraine, children Wanda Breyer of St. Paul, Wayne(Barbara) Tri of Petoskey, MI, Loren Tri of Prescott, WI, Denice (Gene) Rahn of Rosemount, MN and Rita Tri of Oakdale, MN; also 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers Richard (Gerri) Tri and Robert "Hub" Tri; sister Marce and sister-in-law Irene.Hewas preceded in death by his parents; brother Oswald and sister-in-law Laverna.The MemorialService, officiated by Rev. Alex Treitler will be held at 11:00 AMThursday,July 19, 2012at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 EastSeventh St., Hastings, MNwith visitation one hour prior to the service. Intermentwill followin theFort Snelling National Cemetery.
