Warren A. Nelson

Warren A. Nelson, age 94, of Hastings, died on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at United Hospital in St. Paul after a brief illness. Warren Nelson, was born in June 28, 1921 in Fargo, North Dakota to Andrew and Helen (Lau) Nelson. He served in the United States Marine Corps during WW II in the South Pacific. He was married June 24, 1950 to Luella "Lu" (Peterson) at Austin, MN. Warren was an apparel salesman who worked until age 94 without retiring. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, his wife "Lu" and a great grandson Lawson Strand. He is survived by his 2 sons William (Sandra) Nelson of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Thomas (Shawna) Nelson of Hastings; by 4 grandchildren Alicia Nelson, Rebecca (Thomas) Rouse, Andrew Nelson and Alex (Richard Alvarez) Nelson; by 2 great grandchildren Braydon Strand and Brock Hansen as well as other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service officiated by Gordon Gathright will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 SeventhStreet East, Hastings. A visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to the service. Inurnment with military honors will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
