Walter "Wally" H. Krantz

Walter Henry Krantz

Born on November 1, 1928 in South Minneapolis to John Walfred and Beda Hemmingson Krantz. He passed into eternal life on March 15, 2025, at the age of 96. 

He was known as Wally by everyone who knew him. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in December 1947. After high school he worked for Strutwear Knitting Company doing machinery repair, where he met his future wife, Dorothy Ann Selander. The first day Wally saw her he decided that she was the girl he was going to marry. They were married on May 6, 1950 and were married almost 74 years. 

In the 1960’s Wally and his brother John, created Krantz Realty; buying and selling homes, and accumulating income property spread across south Minneapolis, the city where he was born and raised. For many years, he worked a regular job at night so he could sell real estate during the day. 

During the last 20 years of his working life, Wally worked as the Maintenance Superintendent for Metropolitan Waste Control Commission. After retiring at the age of 59, he once again worked with his brother John at General Mills, working part time doing mechanical repair and maintenance. 

Wally and Dorothy volunteered in leadership and servant roles at Living Word Lutheran Church well into their 80’s. He was a great example to family and friends of a godly and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. 

When they started having grandchildren, Wally and Dorothy bought a cabin on Round Lake in Otter Tail County, MN. For many summers they took their 7 young grandchildren to the cabin for a week of “Krantz Camp”. 

In 2008 they moved out of Minneapolis to a condo in Eden Prairie, and continued to stay busy and enjoy life together. 

Preceded in death by his parents John and Beda Krantz, brother John (Frieda) Krantz, son-in-law Eduardo Acaso, nephew John Krantz, and his dear wife Dorothy. He is survived by his daughter Kathleen Acaso, sons Loren (Linda) Krantz, Bradley (Linda) Krantz, grandchildren Lisa (Joe) Darby, Benjamin Acaso, Andrew (Patricia) Krantz, David (Alexandra) Krantz, Marcie (Ryan Wolf) Krantz, Jonathan (Kris Vierus) Acaso, James (Sarah) Krantz, and 7 great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Chloe Krantz, Logan Darby, Orion and Neo Krantz, Lily and Violet Wolf, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Living Word Lutheran Church, 4300 Nicols Road, Eagan, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 21st at Living Word Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour prior. 

Interment at Lakewood Cemetery. 

Memorial donations can be given to the Youth Program at Living Word Lutheran Church.
