Wallace W. 'Mope' Holmes, age 81 of Hastings, passed away October 29, 2013 at Regina Health Care Center in Hastings. He was born in Hastings on May 25, 1932 to Day and Anna Holmes. He was retired from the US Army, having served during both Vietnam and Korea. He later worked for Dakota County in the Highway Department. Mope loved hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cathy; and sisters, Faye Kleis and Shari Schmidt. He is survived by his wife, Agnes; children, Eugene (Kim); Anna (Mark) Coulter; Mary Beth 'Tina' Holmes; and Patricia (Troy) Olson; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brothers, James Holmes; Thomas Holmes; Dale (Sue ) Holmes; sister, Gladys (Richard) Fox; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Memorial Service, officiated by Pastor Paris Pasch, will be held at Christ's Family Church, 518 E. 2nd Street, Hastings on Saturday (11/2) at 11:00 a.m. A gathering will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be at the County Line Cemetery where Military Honors will be provided by Lyle Russell VFW Post 1210. The Wise Family Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
