Wallace D. Berg

Wallace D. Berg, age 88, formerly of Inver Grove Heights, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Southview Acres Healthcare Center in West St. Paul. Wallace was born October 20, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Daniel C. and Elsie (Schultz) Berg. He was employed in various capacities over the years, including carpentry, banking, working as a millwright and also in maintenance at Bethel College. Wallace was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps at the close of WW II. He was married to Ruth E. Peterson September 21, 1948 in Chisholm, MN. They enjoyed 57 years together before Ruths passing in 2006. Wallace was preceded by his parents, his wife and 2 sisters Lorraine Nelson and Naomi Lundin. He is survived by his sons Lowell (Cathy) Berg of Stafford, VA, Randy (Linda) Berg of Hastings and Brian (Rachelle) Berg of Inver Grove Heights; grandchildren Shelly, Meredith, Nathan, Eric, Justin and Jared Berg; also by 7 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 11: 00 a.m. at the Calvary Christian Church, 907 Fifteenth Street West in Hastings with Rev. Paris Pasch officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Arrangements are being completed by the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services in Hastings.
