Virginia "Ginny" Meier

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Virginia “Ginny” Meier of Fort Myers Beach, FL and Hastings, MN on February 7, 2026, after unexpected heart complications in Fort Myers.

Ginny was born in Rush City, Minnesota, on April 10, 1942, to Albert and Louise Paulson (née Nelson). She married her husband, Vernon Meier, on June 2, 1962.

Ginny fulfilled her biggest dream in life, which was to become a mother. After raising her children, she worked for 21 years at Norwest Bank (later Wells Fargo) in Hastings and maintained lifelong friendships with her coworkers, as well as with her card club and high school friends.

Ginny is survived by her husband, Vern; her daughter, Kris (Kyle) Johnson; her son, John (Lisa) Meier; her grandchildren, Evan, Olivia, and Lauren Johnson, and Nikolas and William Meier; and her sisters, Birdie Brown and Judy (Wally) Groth.

Ginny was preceded in death by her son, Steven; her parents; and her siblings, Don, Bill, and Deloris.

Ginny loved spending time at the cabin she and Vern built, snowmobiling and boating on the St. Croix with friends, before moving to Fort Myers Beach, where they spent many happy years enjoying time with close friends. They returned to Hastings every summer, as that would always be “home” to Ginny.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings, MN. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at a later date.
