Vernon "Vern" J. Kuehnl

Vernon "Vern" Kuehnl, age 62 of Hastings and formerly St. Paul, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at his home following an extended illness. Vernon J., the son of Erwin and Lucille (Felling) Kuehnl, was born on July 13, 1953 in St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduating with the class of 1971 in Harding, Vern joined the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and later received an honorable discharge. On August 13, 1989, Vern was united in marriage to Antoinette "Toni" C. Hernandez in St. Paul. He worked for a short time at American Hoist Derrick Company in St. Paul prior to retiring from the U.S. Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his parents. Vern is survived by his wife, Toni of Hastings; his children and families, John J. Kuehnl and children, John Angel, Jeffrey M. (Emily) Kuehnl and children, Joanna Gloria, Jacqueline Boucher and children, Michael Meath, Stephen Harrity, Matthew (Cortney) Harrity, Samantha Harrity, Charlie Harrity and Thomas Harrity; John M. Boucher and children, Harrison Lucille; his siblings, Allen R. (Sharon) Kuehnl and Barbara K. (Timothy) McCoy; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St., Hastings. Interment with Honors will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be held at church from 10-11 a.m. on Monday. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services in Hastings.
