Verne "Andy" Anderson

Verne "Andy" Anderson, age 86 of Hastings, died peacefully at home on Wednesday morning, June 30, 2021. Verne Kirby, the son of Gordon and Ruth (Kirby) Anderson, was born on March 18, 1935, in Madison, Wisconsin. Following his graduation from high school, Andy enlisted in the United States Army as a Paratrooper and later received an Honorable Discharge. Following his discharge, Andy was united in marriage to Audrey Lewicki and she later preceded him in death on July 30, 2005. Andy was a longtime Air Traffic Controller, first with Chicago Center and later with Minneapolis Center until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, downhill skiing, hiking, and the Friday Night Fish Fry's with the best view in town at the Legion. Andy was a lifelong Green Bay Packer Fan and Shareholder as well as a member at the American Legion Post 47 in Hastings. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Audrey. Andy is survived by his three children, Gordon (Vickie) Anderson, Darryl (Beth) Anderson, and Corey (Teresa) Anderson; grandchildren, Danyelle Anderson, Brett Anderson, Brady Anderson, Mitchell Anderson, Bridget Anderson, Gage Anderson, Emily Anderson, Max Vanberg, and Kelsey Vanberg; great grandson, Elijah Anderson; sister, Sharon; significant other, MaryAnn Pangral; and by many other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Andy's Life will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening, July 9, 2021, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings. Private family interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or to the donor's choice in memory of Andy. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
