Varuni Novick

Varuni Novick, age 49 of Eagan, died suddenly on Friday, January 10, 2020, while working in Puerto Rico. Varuni Samagika, the daughter of Linton and Siromi Perera, was born on February 14, 1970, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Following her education, Varuni came to the United States when she was 18. Varuni was a wildly successful business leader for many large companies, and most recently with Heraeus. She enjoyed traveling around the world to establish many new businesses, and to give back to the communities in which her businesses were established. On April 23, 2005, Varuni was united in marriage to John E. Novick Jr. in Hastings. They enjoyed many adventures together prior to his sudden passing on January 28, 2008. Varuni was a very loyal and dedicated caregiver to her family and friends, and always made sure to put others before herself. She was a terrific wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She took great pride in building goodwill within others and in the communities in which she was involved. She was preceded in death by her father; and by her husband, John. Varuni is survived by her mother, Siromi Perera; sister, Nuwani (Ruwin) Perera; mother and father-in-law, John and Eunice (Behm) Novick, sister-in-law, Michele (Chris) Whyle; uncle, Harindra Joseph (Ravini) Fernando; Aunt, Nilanthi (Frank) Cooray; her beloved dog, Max; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Reverend Lloyd Menke officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Following the interment, a reception will be held at the church. Family and friends are cordially invited to Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m., with a visitation following until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening, January 24, 2020, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, and also for one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday morning.
