Timothy Millward Peterson was born in Escanaba, Michigan to Clifford and Elizabeth (Millward) Peterson on May 12, 1947. He died on September 6, 2020. Tim grew up in Gladstone, Michigan until his family moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1958. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1965 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas in 1969. After graduation, he moved to the Twin Cities where he met and married Marjorie Tietz on June 5, 1971. They made Hastings their home. Tim loved summers, spending them on family camping trips to National and Provincial Parks. He especially enjoyed going West to the mountains, stopping at every historical marker along the way. He and Marjorie shared motorcycle and backpacking adventures. There was always time made for the family cabin on Stonington Peninsula along Lake Michigan’s shore. Tim was a listener. He was respectful and honest with people from all walks of life. He was both a protector and an encourager; never expecting recognition for doing the right thing. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Michael King, his adoring granddaughters, Ellie Drew and Annika Jorie King, as well as his current German Shepherd, Britta. Tim is also survived by brothers Greg (Penny) of Kansas City, Rob (Lyn) of Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota and their families. A funeral service is being held at St. Phillip’s Lutheran Church in Hastings on Saturday, September 19 at 11:00 am. Memorials preferred to Hastings Family Service, in honor of his commitment to Meals on Wheels, Children’s Hospital, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, MN.
