Thomas D. Caneff

Thomas D. Caneff, age 91 of Hastings died Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Regina Nursing Home. Thomas was born June 22, 1921 in Hastings to Daniel and Elizabeth (Currier) Caneff. He served four years in the Army during WWII and married Margaret Gores on October 16, 1947 in Coates, MN. Tom was a 32 year employee of 3M and was also a former school bus driver for District 200. He was a member of the People of Praise Christian Community and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Tom was an avid gardener and sports enthusiast � especially the Twins.He was an avid card player who also enjoyed word puzzles and made latch-hook rugs. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Cynthia; his brothers Fran,Joe and John; and sisters Dorothy Swanson and Lorraine Caneff. He is survived by his wife Margaret; six children Marcia Caneff, Thomas M. (Nancy) Caneff, Dennis Caneff, Maureen (Jack) Kimmes, Kevin (Linda) Caneff, and Melanie (John) Nordman; also sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister Annette Varien. The Memorial Mass, officiated by Fr. Michael Tix will be held 11 AM Monday, August 13, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St., Hastings with visitation held two hours prior to the service. His grandchildren will serve as urn bearers. The interment, with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210 will follow in the parish cemetery.
