Theodore "Ted" Swaback

Theodore “Ted” Swaback, age 61, of Hastings, passed away unexpectedly at United Hospital in St. Paul on December 28, 2014. He was born in Ottawa, IL on September 20, 1953 to Theodore and Agnes (Hartlaub) Swaback. He married Diane Pipowski on June 25, 1977 in Chicago. He graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1977 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. After graduation, he went to work for 3M. Most of his time with 3M was spent with the dental division. Ted was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed his children’s and grandchildren’s many activities. He was an active church member. Ted enjoyed quiet times at the cabin, working with this hands, and describing anything in minute detail. Ted is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Diane; children, Theodore (Britany); Timothy (Kassie) and Laura; grandchildren, Emelia and Lauren whom he loved with all his heart; also survived by brothers, sisters, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Agnes Swaback; and his in - laws, Raymond and Elaine Pipowski. A funeral service, officiated by Dr. Chris Kneen, will be held on Thursday (1/1) at 10:30 a.m. at Hastings United Methodist Church, 615 15th St. W., Hastings. A visitation will be held on Wed. (12/31) from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at church, and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday at church. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.
