Theodore John Saari

Theodore “Ted” Saari Jr, age 80, died on Monday April 7, 2025 at Prescott Nursing Home. He was born the son of Theodore Sr and Eileen Saari on May 13, 1944 in Eveleth, MN. Ted grew up in Eveleth, graduating in 1962. He served in the US Air Force from 1963-1967. While serving in the Air Force, Ted worked as a Military Auxiliary Radio System operator sending messages between the troops and their families. Ted met Betty Matkovich in high school while students at rival schools. They married on June 19, 1965 in Virginia, MN.
Ted worked in electronics as a supervisor and manager at various electric companies. He loved golfing and using ham radios. Ted kept a manicured lawn around his home. Ted enjoyed meeting with his many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jack E. Saari. Ted is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Keith (Sophie Reinhardt), Christine (Scott) Crawford; grandchild, Alicia Smith; and many other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday May 9, 2025 at 11:00AM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel (3075 Vermillion Street Hastings MN 55033) with a visitation starting at 10:30. Inurnment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Arrangements are Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel.
