Hastings Chapel

Terri Ann Tharp, age 69 of Hastings passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, following a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Terri was born on March 10, 1956, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She grew up in a loving home alongside her three siblings, Marcia, David, and Dana, and attended Park Center High School. During her teenage years, Terri was very active in her church youth group, where she met the love of her life, Steve Tharp. The two were united in marriage on August 9, 1974, beginning a lifelong partnership built on faith, family, and devotion.

Together, Steve and Terri raised four children, first in Brooklyn Park and later in Hastings, Minnesota. Family was always at the center of Terri’s life. She found her greatest joy in being present for her children—rarely missing a sporting event, school function, or milestone. As her family grew, that same love and enthusiasm extended to her grandchildren, whom she proudly supported at countless athletic games and musical performances.

Summers held a special place in Terri’s heart. She spent many cherished weeks in northern Minnesota at Baby Lake, a tradition that became an annual extended family gathering and one of the highlights of each year. These times were filled with laughter, togetherness, and lasting memories that her family will forever treasure.

Terri had a deep love for hockey—especially cheering on the Minnesota Wild—but her favorite moments were spent watching her sons play the sport while they were growing up. In more recent years, she and Steve enjoyed traveling across the upper Midwest in their fifth-wheel camper, exploring nature, and attending concerts of their favorite Christian bands. In quieter moments, Terri found comfort in the companionship of her beloved dogs and peace in faithfully attending Sunday church services throughout her life.

She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her warm and caring spirit, and the steadfast love she showed her family every day of her life. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and in the family she cherished so deeply.

Terri is survived by her husband, Steve; sons, Joel (Mea) and Ben (Jamie); daughters, Kara and Kassie (Chris); grandchildren, Brandon (Toni), Kailee (Wyatt), Olivia, Wyatt, Brenna, Annika, David; great-grandchildren, Parker, Jayce; brother, Dana (Lois); sister, Marcia (Jeff); sister-in-law, Judy; and by many other special family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, David and Audrey Nyquist; and by her brother, David Nyquist.

A Memorial Service to honor Terri will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Berean Baptist Church, 309 County Road 42 East, Burnsville with a visitation one hour prior to the time of the service.
