Sylvester J. Taube, age 86, of Hastings, died Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Prescott Nursing and Rehab Community.He was born December 10, 1922 in Hazelton, ND to Edward and Eva (Schaffer) Taube. Sylvester served in the US Army, and was united in marriage to Irma Riemenschneider on July 6, 1951 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Hastings. He was employed at Con-Agra for 36 years, and was a member of the American Legion, and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council #1600.He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Taube and Eva Taube-Payette; and half brother Joseph Landsberger. Sylvester is survived by his wife of 58 years, Irma; daughters, Judy Masera Lentz of Sarasota, FL, Susan Riley of Prescott, and Sali Voss of Wayzata; son, Kevin Taube of Hastings; grandchildren, Carey Masera, Grady and Tanner Riley, Chasi May, Seazon Voss, Casey Luedtke, Troy Taube, Neil and Heather Lentz; 7 great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law, Ruth Molean, Ruby Harrisberger, and June McKernon; 2 brothers-in-law, Edward Wegwerth and Glen Redman;alsomany nieces and nephews.The Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Jim Perkl, will be held at 11AM Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St.; Hastings, with visitation two hours prior to the service at church.Pallbearers include Tom Shannon, Troy Taube, Brian May, Chasi May, Seazon Voss, and Ray Miller. Interment, with military honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210 will be held atthe St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery.
