Susan “Sue” Pemble-Johnson
Age 72 of Hastings, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024 after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Sue was born on July 30, 1953 in Grand Forks, ND to Ray and Ethel Pemble. The family moved to Hastings in 1960. She graduated from Hastings High School on June 3, 1971. Sue continued her education by studying Apparel Arts at the St. Paul Area Technical Vocational Institute where she graduated on June 7, 1973. After graduating she started her career at Albrecht Furs in St. Paul and worked there for many years. Following Albrecht Furs, she then started working as a Vet Tech for the Cedar Pet Clinic in Lake Elmo until her retirement. Sue continued to volunteer for the Cedar Pet Clinic for another 10 years following her retirement.
Sue met the love of her life, Dale Johnson, while working for Albrecht Furs and after a long courtship they married on January 13, 2013. She was a fiercely devoted and dedicated wife to Dale until his passing on November 16, 2018. Sue loved all animals – her and Dale fostered many cats and dogs throughout the years.
Preceded in death by her husband, Dale Johnson; and parents, Ray and Ethel Pemble.
Survived by her brother, David (Dolores) Pemble; nieces, Dawn Pemble, Dena (Aaren) Mathison, Darcy (Dallas Apfelbacher) Pemble, and Dara Pemble; many other relatives and friends.
A special thank you to the exceptional staff at White Pine Cottage Grove and Allina Hospice for their excellent care of Sue.
Graveside service at 11:00am on Monday, May 11, 2026 at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Immediately following the graveside will be a reception from 12:00-2:00pm at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St., Hastings.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Allina Hospice.
