Susan M. "Sue" Kimmes

Susan (Sue) Mary Kimmes, age 73 of Hastings, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, at Cannon Rivers Senior Living.

Sue was born in Red Wing to Anthony and Marcella Heimann on March 4, 1952. She went to high school at Randolph Public Schools and graduated in 1970. She earned a degree in nursing and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Gillette Children’s Hospital. After taking a leave of absence to raise her daughters, she later returned to the medical field. Sue found joy spending time with her beloved soulmate, William (Bill) Bauer. Together, they raised their elk, enjoyed fishing at their cabin, attended meat raffles, and above all, cherished moments with their children and grandchildren.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony & Marcella Heimann, her brothers Don & Jerry Heiman and brother-in-law, Jerry Thurmes.

Sue is survived by her life partner of thirty years, Bill Bauer; daughters, Bridget (Rusty) Simpson, Jill (Charlie) Wille, Kelly (Jamey) Lockhart, and Deena (Matt) Otto from her marriage to Dennis Kimmes; stepchildren, Teresa (Dan) Mitchell, Brent (Katy) Bauer, Lisa (Rick) Girgen; grandchildren, James & Timothy Simpson, Alexis (Austin) Moorhouse, Ethan (Megan) Schultz, Devon Schultz, McKenzie & Lauryn Lockhart, Collin, Cohen & Cash Otto; step grandchildren, Wade & Rebecca Mitchell, Brock & Briella Bauer, Clara & Eva Girgen and great-grandchildren, Jayce Schultz & Loretta Moorhouse.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Miesville, with Father Michael Tix officiating.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at church on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

Resting peacefully, remembered lovingly.
