Stephen "Steve" Mcgree

On December 19, 2020, Steve McGree, age 71 of Hastings, passed away peacefully at his home from pancreatic cancer. Survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary; children, Meghan (Kyle) Nelson, Michaela McGree, and his beloved granddaughter, Keira Mary Nelson; his mother, Ann (Weber) McGree; brothers, Sliv (Karyn) McGree, Joe (Rhonda) McGree, and Buzz (Anne) McGree; sister, Tess (Bob Deem) McGree Olson; in-laws, Dan (Linda) Lindahl, Deb (Marlon West) Krause, and Mike (Kathy) Lindahl; and by uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other dear friends. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Ollie; infant brother, David; father and mother-in-law, Marlowe and Donna Lindahl; and by his sister-in-law, Carol (Sontag) Lindahl. Steve's family was the most important thing in his life. He was a loving and kind man who helped many people in his lifetime. Steve was dedicated to his faith, and lived it through his actions. His hobbies included golfing with his buddies, playing bridge at the senior center and with his aunts. Steve loved farming with his cousin, Ron, trips to Arizona, happy hour on the screened porch after golf, being with his girls, being a grandpa to Keira, and always enjoyed a good brandy old fashioned at Wiederholt's with Mary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father David Hennen officiating. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210 will follow at the parish cemetery. For those not able to attend, Steve's service will be broadcasted live on the Starkson Family Facebook page. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings. There will not be a visitation the morning of the Mass. In lieu of flowers or food, memorials can be sent to Hastings Family Service at 301 East Second Street, Hastings, in Steve's memory. The family would like to thank Dr. Lizbet Ronning, Dr. Jacob Strand - Mayo Clinic, and Allina Hospice for their exceptional, loving care they provided, and also to all of his family and friends who loved Steve along the way. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
