Stella Johnson

Stella Johnson, age 92 of River Falls and formerly a longtime resident of Prescott, passed away suddenly but peacefully at home on Saturday afternoon, December 6, 2025.

Stella, the oldest daughter of Joseph and Magdalena (Bauer) Reinardy, was born on the family farm in Hampton Township, Dakota County, on March 3, 1933. Stella attended St. Mary's Catholic School in New Trier through eighth grade, and later received her GED. On May 9, 1959, Stella as united in marriage to George Johnson, also at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Trier. They were blessed with sixty-two years of marriage, four daughters, and many memories prior to his passing. Stella built her life around faith, family, and love. She created a home where prayer was spoken, grace was lived, and every child, grandchild, and great grandchild felt cherished. Her family would call her blessed, for she taught them what devotion truly looks like not only in words, but through a lifetime of actions. As a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she poured her heart into each generation and has left a legacy rooted in faith, compassion, resilience, and the love of God. Throughout her life, Stella also loved gardening and feeding the birds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Joleen; husband, George; siblings, Joe (Carol), Geraldine (Alvin), Grace, and infant sister, Martha Mary; and by her brothers-in-law, Ernest and Gerald.

Stella is survived by her daughters, Jaci (Tony), Carol (Todd), and Diane (Eric), grandchildren, Christine, Anthony, Kiley, Bailey, Michael, Ashley; seven great-grandchildren with one more on the way; siblings, Florian (Karen), Mary Jane, Anna (Gordon), Mary, and Gloria; sisters-in-law, Arlene Croes and Lorraine Johnson; the extended Johnson family; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prescott, with Father Joseph Albert Saleth and Deacon Jerry Rynda officiating. Interment will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery in Hastings.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a Holy Rosary at 4:00 p.m. with visitation following from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2025, as well as for one hour prior to Mass on Saturday, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prescott. A reception will also follow the graveside service on Saturday at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.

In lieu of flowers, Stella's family kindly requests memorials be made to future Mass intentions in her memory.
