Sonia Ingeborg Johnston

Our beautiful wife & mother, of Richfield, passed into the presence of God on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at the age of 94, surrounded by her loving family. Sonia will be remembered by her family and friends as a warm, loving, gracious, giving woman with an incredible servant’s heart. Most of all, her beloved family always came first and was quite simply, her pride and joy!!! Sonia is survived by her husband of 71 years, Donald C. Johnston; her three children: Donald Johnston (Kathleen), David Johnston (Jeanie), Carole Heebl (Dale); four grandchildren: Kyle Heebl, Laurel Johnston, Davey Johnston, and Boo Segersin; brother, Ronald Hyland, and nephew and nieces. Sonia was preceded in death by her daughter, Laurel (Johnston) Boe, and son-in-law, Michael Boe. We will celebrate Sonia’s life beginning with a visitation on Friday, January 4 from 4-7 PM at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary located at 3640 23rd Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55407; followed by the funeral service on Saturday, January 5 at 1:30 PM at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church at 5025 Knox Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota, with a visitation at 12:30 PM at the church, where Don & Sonia have been members since 1949. A reception and luncheon in the church fellowship hall will follow the service. The family has requested that memorial gifts be directed to CrossPoint Church at 10936 Foley Boulevard, Coon Rapids, Minnesota, 55448, where her son, David serves as senior pastor.
