Shirley E. Nelson

age 93, of Minneapolis, born Feb. 19, 1925 in Minneapolis to loving parents, Asbjørn Ingolf “A.I.” Rasmussen and Myrtle Martha Christensen Rasmussen, passed away at her home of 68 years on May 4, 2018. Preceded in death by husband, David O. Nelson and brother, Wesley Lloyd Rasmussen.  Survived by son, David Nelson; cousin, Charles Kuppe; loving caregivers, Amelia Wleh and Catherine Brooks; dear friends: Brittany Sullivan, Cherrie Walden, Janet Kuehne and Jean Dudgeon and other close friends and relatives.  Long-time employee of Preferred Risk Insurance.  Shirley was a member of Edina Covenant Church for over 60 years.  Visitation, 6-8 PM, Friday, May 11th at Henry W Anderson Mortuary, 3640 23^rd Ave. So, Mpls.  The committal service for Shirley will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, May 12^th at Acacia Park Cemetery, 2151 Pilot Knob Rd. in Mendota Heights. (Meet at the gathering area just inside the gate at 10:45 AM). The memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM with visitation a half hour before at Edina Covenant Church, 4201 W. 50^th Street, Edina.  Memorials preferred to Edina Covenant Church, St Peter’s Lutheran Church (Edina) or St. Mary’s Orthodox Cathedral, Minneapolis.
