Shirley was born on August 18, 1938, in Danbury, WI to Edward and Anna Linehan. The family moved to Bloomington, MN and Shirley graduated from Bloomington High School in 1956. She raised her three children on her own while working two jobs. Shirley worked for Our Own Hardware, Tommy Thompson, and Jack’s in Burnsville, where she met her future husband, Michael. Shirley and Michael united in marriage in 1987 in Las Vegas, NV.
Shirley found joy in the simple pleasures of life and had a remarkable gift for making a house feel like a home. She loved sewing and was always busy with a craft project, creating beautiful and thoughtful items for those she loved. An excellent cook and dedicated homemaker, she took great pride in preparing meals and welcoming family and friends around her table. Shirley even enjoyed making her own wine, a hobby that reflected both her creativity and her love of sharing special moments with others.
Staying active and connected with friends was important to Shirley. She treasured swimming with her girlfriends at the YMCA, where laughter and friendship were as important as the exercise. She also looked forward to trips with "the girls," creating memories filled with fun, adventure, and countless stories. Whether it was a family gathering, a holiday celebration, or a casual visit, Shirley loved bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome.
Family was at the center of Shirley's life. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, relatives, and friends. She genuinely enjoyed being with others and was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. Her warm hospitality, generous spirit, and ability to make everyone feel included left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Shirley's strong faith was a guiding force throughout her life. A devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, she was actively involved in her church and lived her faith through kindness, compassion, and service to others. Her faith provided strength, comfort, and purpose, and it was evident in the way she cared for those around her.
Above all, Shirley will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. She loved to laugh, tell stories, and bring smiles to the faces of others. Her quick wit, joyful spirit, and ability to find humor in everyday moments made her a delight to be around. The love she shared, the friendships she nurtured, and the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
