Shirley A. Erickson

Shirley Erickson, age 91 of Hastings, died peacefully following an extended illness on Monday evening, January 13, 2020, at Ecumen Lakeview Commons in Maplewood. Shirley Ann, the daughter of Henry and Julia (Anderson) Hendel, was born on May 19, 1928, in Red Wing. Following her graduation, Shirley was united in marriage to Glenn A. Erickson on August 29, 1959, in Red Wing. Shirley was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family, and was a dedicated member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Eric; husband, Glenn; and by her brothers, John (Stella) Hendel and Richard Hendel. Shirley is survived by her sons, Thomas (Barb) Erickson and John (Ann) Erickson; grandchildren, Thomas Jr. (Cassandra), Christopher, Bob (Becki), Julia (Ben) Shakespear, and Caroline; three great grandchildren, Thomas III, Henry, and Jonathan; special friend, Robert Aurandt; and by many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Reverend Lloyd Menke officiating. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at church. Private family interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, and also for one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Shirley. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
