Sherman "Sherm" Sanders, age 73 of Hastings and formerly of Woodbury, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 1, 2016 at The Commons on Marice Senior Living in Eagan.Sherman Everett, the son of Robert and Lena (Haberman) Sanders, was born on March 12, 1942 in Breckenridge, Minnesota. After receiving his Bachelors Degree in Education, Sherm was united in marriage to Linda Paulson on August 7, 1965 in Fargo, North Dakota. He then began his life-long career in education, teaching elementary school in Hastings for twelve years, New Life Academy in Woodbury for seven years and later at Calvin Academy in New Brighton. Sherm loved the outdoors, especially fishing, camping and gardening. He also enjoyed many different hobbies over his life time, but most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Harold Sanders. Sherman is survived by his wife, Linda of Hastings; his children, Margaret (Jim) Hanson of Hastings, Lynae (Joe) Mach of Hastings, Stephanie (Seann) Dikkers of Centerville and Laura (Josh) Walls of Hastings; his grandchildren, Joe (Charisa) Hanson, Holly Hanson, Erin Hanson, Emma Hanson, Mandy Mach, Julia Mach, Grant Dikkers, Katie Dikkers, Levi Timming, Caleb Walls, Ben Walls, Jon Walls and Abigail Walls; his sister, Roberta (Charles) Malm of Park Rapids; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at River of Life Church, 800 Vermillion Street, Hastings, with a time of fellowship to follow. Private family interment was held at Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings.
