Sharlene Geraghty of Hastings was reunited with her best friend and husband, Roger, on August 26, 2018. Two words best describe her: Courage and Light. She courageously lived with and fought 2 types of cancer, one for over 21 years. Her grace, strength, and faith inspired others facing similar challenges. She was a light to anyone she met, whether it was 5 minutes or a lifetime. Those she touched with her light have spread it to others too. Sharlene Mary Easton was born on Friday, November 13th, 1936. She considered this to be lucky as it brought her Roger, to whom she was married for 53 years. They had 5 children; Barb Geraghty (Captain, USN, Retired), Joe (Junhee) Geraghty, Mike Geraghty (Jane Haapala), Joan Hemenway, and Carol (Rich) Schoenthaler. She is preceded in death by Roger; parents, Howard and Irene Easton; brother, John Easton; brother-in-law, Tony Kucera; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Pat Peverill; son-in-law, Dennis Hemenway; and nephew, Richard Easton. Besides her children, Sharlene is survived by her sister-in-law, Audrey Easton; brothers, Chuck (Barb), Bill (Joanne), Doug (Jane), and Randy (Dodie) Easton; and sisters, Mary Ann Kucera, Judy (Frank) Trumpy, and Therese (Don) Roth; 8 grandchildren, Katie, Tyler, Jenna, Andy, Cody, Tim, Renee and Lauren; 2 great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Rilee; many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends. Her family would like to thank Jen and the team at Allina Hospice for their devoted care of Sharlene. A Visitation will be held on Wed. (8/29) from 4 to 7 PM at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings, and again on Thurs. (8/30) from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., in Hastings. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Thurs. (8/30) at 10:30 a.m. Interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church Joyful Living, Hastings Family Service or Hastings Senior Center. The Wise Family Funeral Home is serving the family.
