Ruth Smith

Ruth Leone Smith was born April 27, 1915 in Colgate, ND to Eva L. and Theodore S. Johnson. Ruth was the last surviving member of her HS class of 3 in 1933. After graduation, she studied nursing at St. John's School of Nursing in Fargo ND, graduating with her R.N. in 1936. She married Clement M. Smith at St. Mary's Cathedral, Fargo October 30, 1937, and raised 6 children. Ruth later resumed her nursing career and continued in Waconia at the Nightingale Nursing Home until 1995. In 1996 Ruth moved to Oakridge Manor, Hastings, MN and Oakridge Assisted Living until her death December 29, 2008. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandparents; brother, Sheldon; and one great grandson. She is survived by her children, Kay (Bill) Hobday of Hastings, MN; Rita (Leo) Razidlo of Chanhassen, MN; Mike (Ales) Smith of Sturgis, SD; Pepper Razidlo of Bloomington, MN; Marilyn (Dick) Gauthier of Snohomish, WA; Maureen (Joan Shelhon) of Mission Hills, CA; Barbara Scherer of Rapid City, SD; 23 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. Mass of Resurrection will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings; on Friday January 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to mass at church. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Waconia.
