Ruth M. Barry

Ruth was born on May 6, 1934 in St. Paul MN and was one of six children of William and Ruth Basler. She attended North St. Paul high school and graduated as the class salutatorian. She worked at the Minnehaha Drive-In Movie Theater where she eventually started dating co-worker Pat Barry. Soon after marrying, they moved to France where Pat served in the U.S. Army. Ruth left us on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 26 while surrounded by her family at home. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Basler and her brothers William and Robert. She is already missed by her sisters Nancy (Don) and Irene and her brother Jim; sons Steve (Jeanne), Ken (Lisa), Mark (Kris) and Pat (Joanne); grandchildren Liz (Andrew), Serena (Greg), Emily (Tom), Molly, Marissa (Cameron), Amie,Charlie, Kayleigh, Patrick and Katelyn; and her beloved great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing games, cooking, baking, holding babies, throwing parties, shopping, buying gifts for others, hosting guests at her condo in Naples FL and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play. You would be hard-pressed to find a person more positive than Ruth; the ultimate glass-half-full type of person. She was also known for her spunkiness and her never quit attitude. She also served at the president of her homeowner’s association at her home in Florida where she also loved playing cards with her good friends in her community. A funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 2410 Stillwater Rd E, Maplewood, MN 55119. Facial coverings and social distancing are required. For those not in attendance, the service will be live streamed on the Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel Facebook page at 2:00 pm on Tuesday (12/1).
