Ruth Ann Dorschner

Ruth Ann Dorschner, age 67 of Hastings died April 18, 2011 at her home. She was born February 18, 1944 in Hastings to Robert and Lorraine (Pechacek) Cater. Ruth Ann was a 1962 graduate of Hastings High School and had worked as a housing specialist with Washington County prior to her retirement at age 50. She was an excellent caregiver to her parents, and her family was a very important part of her life, as was her canine companion, Abby. Ruth Annwas an avid Twins and Vikings fan and enjoyed puzzles, shopping with friends, and spending time with her neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence �Larry� Dorschner. Ruth Ann is survived by her son Robert (Deanne) Shingledecker and daughter Rhonda (Aaron) Nielsen of Hastings; grandchildren Tom, Joey, and Sara Shingledecker, Charlee and Daniel Nielsen; parents Robert and Lorraine Cater of Hastings; brothers Lyle (Sarah) Cater of Navarre, FL and Gary (Mary) Cater of Hastings. The Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. Christopher Kneen will be held at 11am Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the United Methodist Church, 615 W. Fifteenth St., Hastings, followed by interment in Lakeside Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4-8pm Friday at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. Seventh St., Hastings and also 1 hour prior to the service at church.
