Rose M. Rother

Rose Rother, 95, passed away Sunday, June 6th at Brookdale Memory Care surrounded by her family. Rose was born on March 25, 1926 to Mathias and Rosa (Girgen) Siebenaler. She married Lawrence Rother on February 1, 1947. They enjoyed 43 years together until Lawrence’s death in 1990. Rose loved visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family will always remember her wacky cake, annual apple pie baking, homemade donuts and canned peaches and pears. Rose enjoyed sewing all her life, mostly from patterns she made herself. She and Lawrence enjoyed spending the summers going to garage sales. In her later years she enjoyed reading and playing cards, especially rummy, often with three generations of family members. Rose is survived by her children, Gerald (Judy) Rother, Dennis (Cookie) Rother, Ronald (Mary) Rother and Mary Jo (Dennis) Vorgert; 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Theresa (Tuts) Lucking and Nell Whipple; and sisters-in-law, June Siebenaler and Evelyn Siebenaler. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and sisters, Sue Wagner, Marie Kasel, Sister Rosalie, and Claire Rother; and brothers, Ferd, Joe, Bill, Ben, Matt and Leo. A visitation to honor Rose’s life will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings, Minnesota. Visitation will also be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday June 28, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow the funeral at the church cemetery in Vermillion. A reception will be held in the church basement following the burial.
