Ronald "Ron" E. Tix

Ronald "Ron" Tix, age 74 of Hastings, died peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2017, in St. Paul following a recent illness. Ronald E., the son of Mattie and Cecelia (Schanus) Tix, was born on December 18, 1942, in Hampton, Minnesota. Ron attended Hastings High School and graduated with the class of 1961, and later enlisted in the Army Reserves. On October 26, 1963, he was united in marriage to Dianne Peine at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Miesville. Ron was a longtime engineer, manager, and patent holder in the plastic manufacturing industry. Throughout his career, Ron worked at various locations including: Intek Plastics, Amesbury, Inc., and later Climatech, Inc. where he spent most of his career. Outside of working, Ron enjoyed caring for his dogs, fishing, gardening roses, and being involved as a Reserve with the Hastings Police Department. He also enjoyed playing softball and hockey as well as bowling. Most of all, Ron loved his family and would often tell others how proud he was of his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Jenna Foster; and by his siblings, Gene, Matthew, James, and Thomas. Ron is survived by his wife, Dianne; his children, Kristine (James) Foster, Michael (Lauri) Tix, Sheila (Mark) Hedin, Anne (Chris) Burns, and Joseph (Rachael) Tix, all of Hastings; his grandchildren, Nathan and Nicholas Foster, Kaylee, Ryan, and Lauren Tix, Christian and Carter Hedin, Gavin Burns, and Madelyn and Sofia Tix; his sister, Sharon Tix; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Joyce Tix, Robert (Judy) Peine, and Todd (Irma) Peine; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father T.J. McKenzie officiating. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Friday morning, ALL AT CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in memory of Ron. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
