Ronald L. Zastrow

Ronald L. Zastrow, age 79 of Prescott, WI died Thursday, January 2, 2014 at United Hospital in St. Paul.Ronald was born March 15, 1934 in Hastings to Chester and Ethel (Stark) Zastrow. A graduate of Hastings High School, class of 1952, he received his BA degree from University of WI, River Falls. Ronald married Sally A. Belt on October 25, 1969 in Waupaca, WI. He attained the rank of Major in the Army National Guard, serving 26 years, and had worked as a sales rep for Standard Oil for 25 years. He was an avid gardener, historian of the Civil War and the military, loved the Mississippi River, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ronald is survived by his wife Sally; daughters Crista Zastrow and Rona (John) Schiltgen; grandchildren Taylor and Ben Schiltgen; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.A celebration of Ron�s life, officiated by Gordon Gathright will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral home, 201 E. Seventh St, Hastings. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
