Ronald LeRoy Christensen, age 89, most recently of Plymouth and Eden Prairie, passed away on April 14, 2025.
Ron graduated from Edison High School in Minneapolis and enlisted in the United States Army where he served from 1957-1959 and was honorably discharged. (He was assigned to draw topographical maps for the Army.)
Ron received a Baccalaureate Degree, with high distinction, from the University of Minnesota in 1975 and a Master’s Degree from St. Cloud University and completed many PhD courses at the U of MN.
Ron was married to Norma, with whom he had three children. He then married the love of his life, Caroline Bunker Rosdahl, with whom he had 44 years.
Ron taught Electrical Design at Anoka Technical College for more than 25 years. He was especially proud of the number of his students who achieved leadership in Electrical Design after graduating from his program. During his time at Anoka, he also established his company, RC Consultants, and after 15 years, he retired and his son, Gary took over the company.
Ron’s passions included bowling, golfing, and his garage filled with tools. He was a member of the Upper Minnetonka Yacht Club, where he participated in many sailboat races. He was also very proud of his son, Mark, who had two Olympic campaigns. He also belonged to the Masons, Shriners, and many car clubs. He drove his classic cars in numerous parades. He was most proud of his State and National First Place for his 1947 Ford and his accomplishments to be a Concourse Classic Car Judge.
Ron and Caroline went on many trips in the United States with their motor home and to car rallies. They also toured Spain, England, and Greece with the University Marching Band. They also had a winter home in Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Nora (Larson) Christensen, son Mark, Brother Arne, and sisters, Delores McGie and Marcella Pawliszko.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Caroline Bunker Rosdahl; sons, Gary (Kizzy) Christensen, Keith (Kim) Rosdahl, and daughter, Kathy (Jeff) Traxler; grandchildren, Jesse (Erin) Cote, Abbi (Charlie) Novotny, Matt Christensen, Emily and Bailey Rosdahl, Erin (Daren) Bloom, Sam (Allie), Megan Traxler, and Mary (Blake) Atherton; and by his great-grandchildren Dillon, Annie and Harper Cote, Corbin, McKenna and Audrey Bloom, and Evren Traxler.
