Ronald L. Johnson

Ronald L. Johnson, age 71, of Hastings, died Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at United Hospital in St. Paul following a lengthy illness. Ronald was born February 23, 1948, in Hastings, to Elmer and Mary (Smith) Johnson. He was a graduate of Hastings High School in 1966. Ron served in the United States Army from 1966 until 1969 and was then employed by 3M at the Chemolite Plant for over 38 years until his retirement. Ron married Linda OBrien on April 3, 1968 in Hastings. Together they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, and Ron enjoyed riding his Harley on roadtrips to Sturgis, SD and other places. He also was an avid fisherman and hunter. In retirement, in 2002, Ron and Linda built a home in Nevis, in northern Minnesota where they enjoyed 12 happy years until moving back to Hastings in 2015. Above all else, he loved his family, especially his 5 grandchildren, who were very close to his heart. Ron is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Verlyn. Ron is survived by his wife Linda, 2 sons Chad (Tracey) and Todd (Kelley), all of Hastings, his grandchildren, Alex, Alissa, Tegan, Brecken and Emmett; a brother Gordon Johnson and a sister Gladys Kok; also by several nieces, nephews and many friends. Per Rons wishes, he will be cremated, and there will be no services at this time. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
