Ronald R. Greene, age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2026, at United Hospital in Saint Paul.
Ronald was born on July 24, 1936, to Robert and Rose (Gense) Greene. He grew up in the Plum City and River Falls area, where he formed the strong values and work ethic that would guide him throughout his life.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, completing his service in 1956. On October 27, 1962, Ronald was united in marriage to the love of his life, Irma “Casey” Peine. Together, they built a life centered on love and family, raising five children: Melissa, Pam, Tom, Brad, and Jeff.
Ronald dedicated over 32 years of his career as a maintenance engineer at Ashland Oil Refinery in Saint Paul Park. Even in retirement, his strong work ethic and active spirit led him to continue working as a security guard and later at Coborn’s, where he enjoyed staying busy and connected with others. Ronald was never one to sit still and faced life with determination and resilience.
He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. Whether trying his luck at slot machines or bingo at Treasure Island, or simply going out to share a meal, those moments together meant everything to him. Ronald will be remembered as family-oriented, strong-willed, and quietly optimistic, with a steady strength that touched all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rose; his beloved wife, Irma “Casey”; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Easton and Ron Kautz.
Ronald is lovingly survived by his children, Melissa, Pamela, Thomas, Bradley (Jeanie), and Jeffrey; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sisters, Jackie Easton and Sandra Kautz; and many other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Jerry, Nurse McKay Danielson and the Talamore staff for their friendship, care, and assistance. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St Mary's Catholic Church in New Trier.
