Ronald D. Molstad On Thursday, July 8th, 2021, Ronald Dean Molstad died at the age of 72 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, after seven long years battling cancer. Ron was born July 25, 1948 in Mason City, Iowa to Dean and Ruth (Randall) Molstad. Ron graduated from Jackson High School in 1967. Ron completed his plumbing training at Jackson Vocational School before being drafted into the Army. He was honorably discharged. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. Ron was united in marriage with Linda Bradley on July 24, 1971. Together they had one daughter Carol Ann, who died in infancy. Ron worked as a plumber his entire career. Starting with Lloyd’s Plumbing and later Thurmer’s Plumbing. Ron and Linda moved to Oregon for a short time and returned to Jackson where Ron worked in Fairmont. In 1982 Ron and Linda moved to Hastings, Minnesota, where they have since resided. Ron was a Master Plumber and worked with many contractors in new custom home construction throughout Twin Cities area. Ron also partnered with his brother Steve in farming in Riceville, Iowa. Ron was known for his love of family and friends. People were in awe for his love to his wife. Most people would say they were captivated by his ability as a great storyteller. He never met a stranger. Ron loved dirt track racing and knew many drivers. Ron owned and drove car 76 at the Jackson Track, in the 6-cylinder class, from 1973 to 1977. Ron also loved to hunt and fish with his brother Steve and nephews Bob and Eric Molstad. Ron’s other favorite pastime was collecting antiques. Ron always enjoyed meeting up for coffee with friends and family. Survivors include his wife, Linda Molstad of Hastings; brother, Steven and wife Janet Molstad; sisters, Bonnie and Rick Martin, Mary Jo and Ron Groshens; and by many other relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Diane Kay; and daughter, Carol Ann. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday July 17th, 2021, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St. in Hastings, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. prior to the services. A reception follows until 7 p.m. Interment will be on a later date, in the family plot in Mason City Iowa.
