Roger Schweich, age 84 of Hastings, died peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, September 21, 2021. Roger Frederick, the son of Frank and Helen (Herber) Schweich, was born on July 1, 1937, in Hastings. Following his graduation from Hastings High School with the class of 1955, Roger began his short career in construction. He then enlisted in the United States Army and served three years prior to being Honorably Discharged. On August 26, 1967, he was united in marriage to Suzanne "Suzie" Shaw at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin, Minnesota. Roger began his longtime career at 3M Chemolite in Cottage Grove and later retired after thirty-years of employment. He loved fishing and cherished the opportunity to share this passion with family and friends, golfing, playing poker, traveling with Suzie, and fixing just about anything you could think of. He also enjoyed volunteering with "Let's Go Fishing" through the Hastings Rotary Club. Most of all, Roger enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and wintering in the Gulf Shores with Suzie. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings, LeRoy Schweich, Ronald Schweich, and twin siblings in infancy. Roger is survived by his wife, Suzie; daughters, Tracie (Peter Jr.) Lillie and Jennifer Schweich (Dave Simons); grandchildren, Erika, Tori, Brooke, and Nicole Lillie and Alex Schweich; and by other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father David Hennen officiating. Private family interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior, with reception immediately following the Mass at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to American Heart Association, Allina Hospice, or to the donor's choice in memory of Roger. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
