Robert John Schmitt

Robert J. Schmitt, age 61 of Hastings died unexpectedly Friday, June 19, 2015 due to a life long battle with diabetes. Robert was born March 26, 1954 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Robert and Frances (Blochowiak) Schmitt. Robert graduated from high school and went on to get his bachelors degree in college. He worked as a paramedic most of his life and then did ambulance inspection for many years. On September 7, 1991 Robert married Pamela Mahowald in Golden Valley, MN. Robert loved riding his Harley, to fish, smoke cigars, garden, read and walk with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert. Robert is survived by his wife, Pamela of Hastings; daughters Samantha and Lizzy; mother Frances; brothers Tom (Julie) Schmitt of Green Bay and Jim (Pam) Schmitt of Belle Plaine, Minnesota; many close and very loved in-laws; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Christs Family Church, 518 East 2nd St., Hastings, officiated by Pastor Joe Hannah. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
