Robert “Bob” E. Albright, age 80, of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born January 30, 1945, in Worthington, Minnesota, to Albert and Henrietta (Karsten) Albright. He grew up in Hastings alongside his sister, Janice and brother, Kenneth. Bob graduated from Hastings High School, where he enjoyed spending time with friends and developed an interest in boxing.
After graduation, Bob served in the Air National Guard in civil engineering for 20 years and retired as a Master Sergeant. He married his high school sweetheart, Diane (Gruis) in 1968, and together they built a life centered on family and faith, raising two children, Darcie and Michael.
Bob worked at 3M in Cottage Grove as a plumber and pipefitter, later serving as a maintenance supervisor. He was proud of his work, always doing things the right way, never cutting corners. Even after retiring, he was happy to go back and fill in as needed. He and his father built the family home where he lived for most of his life, a place filled with countless memories.
Bob was funny, quick-witted, and easy to be around. He loved being a husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa, and treasured time hunting, fishing, camping at Mille Lacs, and trap shooting. Bob was an excellent marksman. His family was his greatest joy and accomplishment.
Bob is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Darcie (Vern) Swedin and Michael Albright; grandchildren, Skye (Noah) Braget and Jesse (Shayla) Swedin; great-grandchildren, Brooks, Grayson, Dylan, and Cal; sister, Janice Egge; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth; infant brother, Michael; brother-in-law, Richard Egge; and his son’s significant other, Colleen Stevens.
