Rita S. Bauer, age 69, of Hastings died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 following a long term illness. Rita was born September 10, 1940 in Douglas Township to Eugene and Susan (Hurber) Feidt. She was a 1958 graduate of Hastings High Schooland married Loren Bauer on September 10, 1960 in New Trier. Her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Arnold and Bernard Feidt; sister Theresa Knowlton; and brother-in-law Don Frandrup. Rita is survived by her husband Loren; children Sharon (Allen) Schaffer of Miesville, Paul (Jean) Bauer of Hastings, and Donna (Ray) Karnick of Hastings; 11 grandchildren Jeffrey, Jason, Justin, Amanda, Christina, Laura, Jessica, Makayla, Haley, Sara, and Nicholas; sister Betty Hoffman of Hastings; brothers Edward (Kathleen) Feidt of Hastings, Raymond (Mary Ellen) Feidt of Hastings, Francis (Marion) Feidt of Faribault; sisters-in-law Marian Feidt or Roseville, Karen Feidt of Cannon Falls, and Mary Frandrup of Vermillion; brothers-in-law Leo Knowlton of Hastings, and Willy (Char) Bauer of Hastings. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. James Perkl, will be held 10:30AM Monday, June 14, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. Fifteenth Street, Hastings. The visitation will be held from 4-8PM Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Mother Seton Hall, West entrance of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, and also 1 hour prior to the Monday service. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are Jeffrey Schaffer, Jason Schaffer, Justin Schaffer, Amanda Bauer, Christina Bauer, and Laura Bauer. Honorary pallbearers are JoAnn Bauer, Tillie Johnson, Mary Rother, Mary Ann Otto, Penny Pettit, and Liz Otto.
