Rita M. Doffing

Rita Marie Doffing (Huebner), beloved mother, wife and grandma, age 75, of Hastings, passed away suddenly, but peaceful, March 28, 2021. Rita’s family moved from Portage WI to Hastings. That is where she met her high school sweetheart, Paul Doffing “Duff”. Together they worked side by side at Big V and Red Owl in retail management. Rita then managed Perman’s Clothing Store, and later was the Business and Office Administrator with Jubilee and the Harbor Church. Together they also launched, Duff’s Meats, a family butcher store, still serving Hastings today. Rita had such a passion to serve! She did this through faith and fun for everyone. She brought the community together, churches together in Hastings through prayers and unity. She even had a Christian Clown team and was so instrumental in leading all in faith. Fun was always weaved in all she did. Many of us love Rivertown Days. Rita also served as the lead on this board to ensure Hastings families and friends enjoyed our community every summer. No task was ever too big for Rita! Family, friends, fun, faith, traveling and leaving an impact in people’s lives is what her life’s journey was all about. 58 years of marriage led them to their family, Jackie (and Richard) Geisinger, Tim (Lori Partington) Doffing and Kirk Doffing; plus, their joy of grandchildren, Destinie Geisinger (Brady Loesch), Matt Doffing and Montana Geisinger. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, Bill and Agnes Huebner, brothers: Ted and Wayne Huebner and many other family and friends. A Celebration will be held Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St., Hastings. A gathering will be held from 1:00 -2:00 pm with the service starting at 2:00 pm. We will conclude the celebration service with a “sweet celebration” desert bar to follow.
