Richard P. Almquist, age 82, of Dade City, Florida, formerly of Hastings, died Thursday, April 12, 2018 in Dade City, Florida. Richard was born in Hastings, MN on July 1, 1935 to Caleb and Shirley Day Almquist. Richard proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, as an airline mechanic. Following his service, he worked for more than 30 years at 3M as an equipment operator. Following his retirement he and his wife Deloris, of 43 years, moved to Florida and spent their summers in Hastings. He enjoyed old cars, old tractors, traveling, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris; and his parents. He is survived by, children, Kathy (George) Siebenaler, of Hastings, Russ Eckard, of Zephyrhills, FL, and Nancy (Scott) Baker, of Dade City, FL; grandchildren, Brian (Ann) Siebenaler, Mark Siebenaler, Heidi (Jason) Anderson, Michael (Alana) Siebeneler, Sharmaine Eckard, Shane Eckard, Brandon (Courtne) Viall, and Amber (Jesse) Abbott; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Earle (Jeanne) Almquist; nieces, Kristeen Almquist, Kari Bartholomew, and Korrin (Scott) Tverberg; and several grand nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16th, 2018 at the Almquist Event Center, 21321 Polk Avenue, Hastings, MN 55033. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the County Line Cemetery in Hastings. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the National WWII Museum, 945 Magazine St. New Orleans, LA 70130. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings.
