Richard L. Serres, age 81, of Hastings died Thursday, June 23, 2011. Richard was born August 9, 1929 in Marshan Township to Mark and Ursula (Shannon) Serres. He served in the Army from 1948-1951, and married Deanna Murray on August 9, 1958 in Hastings. Richard worked for Koch Refinery prior to his retirement. A collector of John Deere toy tractors, Richardwas also an avid gardener, known for his cockscomb flower garden west of Hastings. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Deanna; brothers Markus and John; and sister Mary �Katie� Schweich. Richard is survived by his siblings Rose Ann Reinardy of Hastings, Robert Serres of Red Wing, Betty Werner of Vermillion, Patricia Troestler of Arizona, Fred Serres of Hastings and Thomas Serres of Hastings; also many other relatives and friends. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. James Perkl and Fr. Cole Kracke will be held at 11am Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. Fifteenth St., Hastings with the visitation held from 9-11am at the church. Interment will follow in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. The pallbearers are Connie Jackson, John Serres, Jane Snyder, Joe Schweich, Richard Werner, and John Werner.
