Richard L. "Dick" Cook, age 86 of Hastings died Monday, May 19, 2014. Dick was born October 30, 1927 in Farmington, MN to Dr. Bertram and Mary (Ryan) Cook. He had served in both the Merchant Marine during WWII and the US Army during the Korean War. He was a retired sales representative with the IDS Investment Co. Dick was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and lover of all sports. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Kimberly Cook; siblings Dr. Earl L. Cook and Helen Harvey. Dick is survived by his great grandsons Isaac Bell and Emmitt Bell; grandchildren Dr. Heather (Dr. Christopher) Bell, Molly Cook and Emily Cook; daughters Cynthia (Scott) LaPointe and Sandra (Steve) Nieman; siblings Howard (Midge), Jerry (Lorraine), Roger (Janet) Jane (Ed) Alexander and Mary Eleanor (Dr. Paul) Gerster. Funeral Service, officiated by Fr. Cole Kracke will be held 11 AM Thursday, May 22 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St., Hastings with visitation at church from 9:30 AM until time of service. Interment, with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post # 1210 will be heldin the parish cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Kimberly J. Cook Scholarship and Charitable Gift Annuity at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN
