Anderson, Richard D. age 71, of S. Mpls, passed away 9/21/08 of heart failure. Dick graduated from the Upsala High School and the University of MN. After two years in the military, he spent his career as an accountant for the City of Minneapolis. He owned the family farm in Upsala, MN, along with his brother Jerry. His father was a farmer/beekeeper and Dick took such an interest in beekeeping that he kept his dad’s operation going as a hobby on the farm. In addition to attending to the bees during summer days, he put in gardens at different locations and growing good tomatoes was an annual challenge. Dick took part in many activities, among them traveling with the groups to which he belonged, a regular bridge night, line dancing at various locations, sight-seeing tours and he was an avid classic country music fan. Preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; parents, Reuben & Vivian Anderson. Survived by son, Dean Anderson; brother, Jerry (Arlene) Anderson; close companion, Mary Theisen and many friends & relatives. Service Saturday, 12 noon, Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 3640 23rd Ave S., Mpls, with visitation Friday, 5-7 PM and one hour before service. Interment Ft. Snelling.
