Rebecca "Becky" Hofmeister

Rebecca “Becky” Hofmeister, 1951-2026, of Hampton, MN, died May 20, 2026 of post-surgery complications.

Born May 8, 1951 to Robert and Edith Swanson of Stillwater, MN, Becky attended Stillwater High School. She graduated from Ancker School of Nursing, St Paul, MN in 1973, and worked as an RN at St Luke’s Hospital.

In 1974 Becky married Lor Hofmeister of St Paul, MN. The couple moved to Menomonie, WI where Mr. Hofmeister was attending college. Becky worked at a nursing home in Dunn County, WI. While in Menomonie, Becky achieved a lifetime goal of owning her own horse and spent many enjoyable hours riding “Vodka”.

In 1976 the couple moved to Rochester, MN where Becky worked at two different nursing homes in the Rochester area. Dealing with older patients was a passion of hers and she dearly loved interacting with residents of each facility. Becky worked until their first son, Jason, was born in 1977, followed by son, Brian, in 1980. Becky remained at home with the boys and was busy managing two youngsters growing up. Once the boys got a little older, Becky took a part time job for a few years as a cashier at K-Mart in Rochester.

In the mid 80’s, Becky decided to become Catholic and went through the formal process of joining the church. She was a woman of deep faith, with a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, and a number of other saints of the church. She was thrilled to make a pilgrimage to Medjugorje and belonged to prayer groups in the Rochester and Byron, MN areas.

In 1999 the couple moved to the Hampton, MN area. Grandchildren started coming into the picture and Becky showed consistent, enthusiastic love and devotion to each as they joined the growing Hofmeister family. She enjoyed travelling, birds, card playing, cross word puzzles, reading, movies, and getting together with her siblings.

Becky is survived by her husband; sons, Jason and Brian; and a solid handful of grandchildren who in particular will miss her enthusiasm very much.

Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 8433 239th St. E., New Trier, MN, with visitation one hour prior. Interment immediately after in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery. A lunch will follow internment in the church basement.
