Raymond Godfrey Riedle, husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the age of 86. He was born on October 6, 1939 in Hastings, MN to Roman and Mary Riedle. He married Joan (Doffing) Riedle on March 5, 1981.
Ray was a witty and insightful person who had a passion for the outdoors, friends and family, and socializing. He served in the United States Army, followed by his career as a mechanic at American Can Company in St. Paul, MN for 40 years. He enjoyed dancing with Joan, playing guitar with his family, being there for his kids and grandkids and supporting their interests. Ray will be remembered for his love of fishing in the great outdoors, playing a good game of cribbage, the road trips with his family, and the motorcycle trips with his friends. He was known for his “putzing” in the garage, conversational hand enhancements, one-line comments, but most importantly, his passion to be with people.
Ray was proud of his kids, Lisa “the nurse”, Dave “the delivery guy”, and Dale “the teacher”. His support and dedication will be greatly missed but not be forgotten. He was there for high mileage bike trips, showing off on how to catch fish, and cheering at athletic activities. Ray was fully invested into his family. His values have carried into the next generation and will always be there.
After retirement, Ray enjoyed road tripping to Texas leaving the cold behind while he and Joan met up with some of their lifelong friends. While there, he played cards with the best of the them, danced the night away with his wife, enhanced his skills in the woodshop, and could be found at many social events offered.
Raymond is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Lisa Beck (husband Craig, Dillon and Brianna Beck: Addilyn and Braxton), Dave Zuzek (wife Dianna, Kenzie, Maddie and Tommy), Dale Zuzek (wife Kristin, Taylor and Ayla); his sister, Marion Holzmer; his brother, Jim Riedle; along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten.
He is reunited in heaven with his wife, Joan; father, Roman; mother, Mary; bothers, John and Ollie; sisters, Theresa and Marge; and many other family members and close friends that he held in his heart.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings, MN, with a visitation beginning at 10:00am. Inurnment at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.
