Raymond "Ray" Hanken, age 65 of Prescott, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday afternoon, January 19, 2018, following a long battle with cancer. Raymond Adolph, the son of Raymond and Margaret (McMullen) Hanken, was born on April 11, 1952, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Following his graduation from Prescott High School in 1970, Ray began working for a fuel oil delivery service before working at North Star Steele where he later retired after 25 years of employment. Ray was married to Barbara Heininger and was blessed with two daughters, Angela and Abigail, prior to being divorced. He then married Patricia Killian and was blessed with two more daughters, Natalie and Justine, before being divorced. Ray was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was also a meticulous artist and taxidermist, and will forever be remembered for his sense of humor. Ray was a devoted member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Prescott, and was strong in his Christian faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Doug Hanken and Patricia Welliver; nephew, Tony Ptacek; and by his brother-in-law, Larry Rust. Ray is survived by his four daughters, Angela (Aaron) Sender, Abigail Hanken, Natalie (Todd) Decker, and Justine (Tristan) Kreischer; grandchildren, Wyatt and Easton Sender, Brady and Max Meyer, Riley Bower, Gideon, Elliana, Josephine, and Keefe Decker, and Karis and Ozias Kreischer; siblings, Marcia Rust, John (Mary) Hanken, and Ruth (Anthony) Ptacek; best friend, Dave Hiniker; former wives, Barbara Hanken and Patricia Killian; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Prescott, with Pastor Tim Rosenow officiating. Interment will be held at Pine Glen Cemetery in Prescott, with a reception following at Ptaceks Event Center. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday morning. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings.
